In this blog fest we celebrate our love for characters of color in romantic fiction.  I love reading and writing interracial and multicultural romance. For one thing, I love reading about books with people like me, not just in terms of skin colour but also cultures and setting. This is why I love the sudden upsurge of interest in African romance and African erotica. Of course, I'm glad to say I am one of the authors blazing the trail in this sub-genre.

Today, I want to introduce you to the first 3 books in my interracial erotic romance series, Passion Shields.
Selina is a Sierra Leonan immigrant working and living in London when she meets Benjamin. They are both African immigrants in London. But Benjamin is white South African and Selina is black. While race issues come into play here, there are other deeper conflicts at play here relating to the war in Sierra Leone a decade ago which affects both of them.

Happy Hump Day and welcome back to Mid-Week Tease hosted by the lovely Sandra Bunino in which we share teasers from our works-in-progress or published works.

This week I bring you more from Scores, my current WIP. This scene introduces Beatrice's story coming up later in the Passion Shields series.
As we already discovered from previous snippets, Beatrice is a bit of a hell-raiser. And it seems Benjamin has found the perfect person to babysit his sister while they travel to South Africa.

It is a first draft and very rough, so please forgive any errors.

Selina relaxed into her first class seat, Benjamin seated next to her on the flight to Johannesburg. Now that they were on their way to his home country, the apprehension about the trip had risen again and was threatening to give her a headache.

What would the reception be from Benjamin's family? She already knew his uncle was not happy that they were married. Although they hadn't spoken about the man since her husband had revealed his past to her, she couldn’t help the growing sense of doom pervading her mind.

Best not to think about it.

"Do you think Beatrice will be okay?" she asked absently.

"She will be now that she's in capable hands," Ben replied flicking through the in-flight magazine.

Benjamin had shocked both Selina and his sister yesterday when he'd invited Kenny Cruz over to their home. Kenny was a member of the Moss Star Security team. But Selina had first met him a year ago in Bar Atlantic as club owner. In certain circles he was known as Master K, a strict practitioner of BDSM and disciplinarian.

Benjamin was strict but Master K was a whole other level. The dark-skinned giant of a man's presence demanded obedience.  Selina didn't cower easily before men but she would have to admit that she would never want to test the man's patience. She'd watched him wield a whip and that was enough to give her cold sweats.

She remembered coming home from a quick trip down to the shops to find Kenny in their living room with Ben. She hadn't been expecting the man. But considering he was a part of Moss Star and a good friend of Ben, there seemed nothing unusual until Ben had invited Beatrice into the room and explained the reason for Kenny visit.

"But isn't Kenny a little bit of a drastic option. Christopher would've kept an eye on her."

"Yes, but she knows how to wrap Chris around her fingers. He spoils her like a kid sister. Beatrice needs a firm hand and Kenny won't tolerate any misbehaviour from her."

Selina gasped. "You gave him permission to discipline her?" Beatrice was the same person who went bright red at the mention of spanking. "Your sister is as vanilla as they come."

"In which case, she'll behave herself if she doesn't want to find herself across his knees," Ben replied, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

Spring is finally here in the South of England. With the arrival of Spring, I start thinking of pampering. After a year where I've barely had time for myself, I think it's about time.

So for today's teaser, I've chosen a pamper scene from Scars with Selina bound and blindfolded. Reading this scene again made me envy Selina. I hope you enjoy it.

"Open your mouth for me."

She did as he instructed, and he placed something on her tongue. She closed her mouth and allowed the taste to sink in. First the texture was creamy. Perhaps cream, perhaps cheese. She wasn't sure. Yet as she chewed, she felt the crunch of biscuits. Then came the sweet acidic taste of fruit.

"Do you know what you're eating?" The sound of his voice was warm and sensuous.

"Strawberry cheesecake?" She loved strawberries, and by default any dessert made with the fruit.

"Close. On the menu, it read 'Strawberry parfait with Vin Santo, mascarpone and biscotti'."

She mewled. His low chuckle made her chest bloom with warmth. She loved the sound of his laughter.

Cool glass touched her lips. She opened them, and he tipped the glass. She inhaled an aroma of ripe pear. The popping sounds of tiny bubbles filled the air. The liquid filled her mouth, and she tasted apples and citrus. She rolled it around her mouth before swallowing, loving the flavour.

"Champagne," she said with a smile after it had gone down her throat.

"Well done."

He continued feeding her, spooning in the dessert, she licking the spoon clean each time before he gave her a sip of champagne.

Just simply letting go and being fed by him relaxed her. She gave in to the sensual play drowning in the flavours and scents. He started using his fore finger to feed her. Each time she wrapped her tongue around it and licked it clean.

Some cream touched her cheek. His hot breath whispered against her cheek before his warm tongue laved the spot.

This week we're back with Benjamin and Selina in Scores, Passion Shield book 3, my current work-in-progress.

In this scene, Benjamin makes a startling revelation to Selina after finding out his sister compares herself to their mother.

Despite the tensions curling around his body, he lowered her into the chair and strode down the balcony cursing into the night. She'd never seen him issue a litany of expletives unrestrained before.

Taken aback, she sat still, her shoulders and back aching with tension.

Why was Ben reacting so explosively to the mention of his mother? She wanted to ask questions but remained silent, waiting for him to talk in his own time.

Back muscles rippled as he raised his hand and scrubbed his scalp, obviously agitated. Wanting to go to him and soothe his restlessness but knowing the best was to leave him for now, she restrained from reaching out to him.

After a few minutes of pacing, he returned to face her, his appearance calmer.

"Please forgive my language," he said in a low, rough tone that hinted at inner turmoil. "I didn't mean to be shock you."

"It's okay, Ben."

She stood up and he returned to the leather armchair.

"Can you tell me why you were so distressed?" she asked when she folded her body back onto his lap.

His chest pushed out as he drew in a long breath and puffed one out.

"My mother was an addict. She died of a drug overdose."

Head rocked backward with shock, she stared at him wide-eyed and her heart broke at the expression on his face.

"Oh, Ben." She turned her body and wrapped her arms around his torso, hugging him tight. "I can't imagine what that feels like. I'm so sorry."

He tucked his head on her shoulders and held on to her body. Seconds ticked away. Perhaps minutes. She lost track of time. The only sounds came from their slow beating hearts, entwining breaths and the occasional rumble of cars driving across the Chelsea Bridge.

Eventually, he lifted his head and stared down at her face. Torment returned to his obsidian eyes.

For the first time in their relationship, she witnessed her husband in pain. Usually he chased away the demons tormenting her and soothed her. Now, she wished to help him.

"Do you want to talk about it? I understand if you don't," she said, stroking his neck and shoulder in tentative brushes.

This week I'm sharing another teaser from my current work-in-progress, Scores. This scene follows on from last week's night club teaser.

In this scene, Benjamin is on the war path because his sister, Beatrice is drunk. Selina intervenes.

When the retching stopped, Selina walked into the bathroom to find Beatrice laying on the cold tiles. Lina flushed the toilet and then manoeuvred Beatrice into a sitting position. She turned the sink on and wet her face towel. She used it to wipe Beatrice's face and neck.

"Why are you helping me?"

Selina shrugged. "You're my sister-in-law."

"I haven't always been nice to you," Bea said, her mouth turned down and frown lines marring her forehead. "I call you a witch behind your back."

"Oh, don't worry about that," Lina replied. "I call you a bitch when you're not looking."

They both stared at each other for one long moment, the tension almost crackling in the air. Beatrice cracked a smile, Selina started laughing and Beatrice joined her.

"You really are the best woman for my brother," Bea said when she stopped laughing.

"Aww, you really think so?"

"Yes, I do. You will do just fine when you get to Johannesburg."

Selina's stomach knotted even tighter. She didn't want to discuss the upcoming trip or her insecurities with her sister in law. So she changed the subject.

"You have to stand up," she said. "I really can't carry your skinny ass all the way to the bedroom."

"You think my ass is skinny?" Bea said as she leaned on the bathtub, attempting to push herself up.

Selina hooked her arm to help. "Yes, it is."

"Aww. That's such a lovely compliment."

Beatrice straightened and stood in front of the sink. She picked up her toothbrush, applied paste and started brushing her teeth.

"No, it isn't meant as a compliment," Selina said and laughed.

"Real men like the soft cushion of a fat ass when their pounding into you." She patted her bottom. "And according to your brother, he likes the way mine wobbles when he spanks me."

Beatrice's face turned beetroot red and her eyes widened in the mirror. She bent over and spat out paste.

"Benjamin spanks you?" There was disbelief in her voice.

"Yes, deliciously so."

"Oh. My—" Her sis-in-law lifted her hand and covered her mouth. Wiping her mouth, she turned to face Lina. "You like it?"

"Of course I do. It is the sexiest thing when it's not a reprimand."

Bea went red again.

"Surely you know your brother is kinky in the bedroom. He said you walked in on him and Chris once with a girl."

"He told you about that?" Beatrice averted her eyes and walked past Selina into the bedroom.
